dkaczmarek@asa.net / Thursday, June 6, 2024 / Categories: News Podcast: Copper Predictions for the Year… Is there Demand? On the most recent episode of the “Keeping it Real with Dr. Kuehl” economic update podcast for ASA members, last week Dr. Kuehl talked to members on the overall delays within each sector and if data really supports this trepidation or if it’s a reaction. ASA Chief Economist Dr. Kuehl started off the podcast by telling members that in the last month there has been a different “tone” when it comes to all these overall sector delays that are developing. Chris says that there are four main concerns with these delays. One Concern is interest rates; the question is when will they come down? Interest rates affect all the financing, so there is that natural waiting game. The second thing is politics. This is an election year, and the concern is there may be a significant shift when power is concerned and that will affect priorities. The third concern is the workforce shortage. We have been discussing this the last 10 years, now there is discussion on what to do with it. The last concern is geopolitics. What do we do about China and Russia? There is discussion on shifting responsibilities, which makes people a little nervous. Chris ends the podcast by saying that we just don’t know what to expect. By the end of the year some of these concerns will be dealt with and some will be up in the air. Dr. Kuehl produces three free economic update podcasts each month for ASA members (on Friday mornings). The podcasts are available in the MyASA portal at www.asa.net/myasa and through all traditional podcast hosting platforms.
