It's that time of year; Christmas appears in stores and Bob Footlik's students are ready for their Essentials of Profitable Warehouse Operations© final exam.
Since 2009, students in Mr. Footlik’s Industrial Technology and Management courses at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) have been using the Essentials of Profitable Warehouse Operations© to learn about warehouse operations. This year, his 16 international students from Korea, Guatemala, China, India, Pakistan, Brazil, France, and Spain, along with two American born, fully employed Internet students are taking the final exam in parallel with their class work.
Essentials of Profitable Warehouse Operations© explains how the distribution side of the wholesale-distribution business functions; introduces key members of the warehouse team and explains how everyone can contribute to an effective operation. The course includes an in-depth treatment of the orderly flow of materials from receiving through stocking, picking, packaging and delivery. Critical concerns such as safety and security are also covered. Examples of continuous improvements are emphasized to help every warehouse employee develop as a professional within the distribution business.
