Wednesday, August 27, 2025 / News Industry Push for Adoption of ASA’s Product Data Standard Gains Momentum Just weeks after its launch, ASA’s Product Data Standard (PDS) is gaining traction across the PHCP and PVF supply chain. More than 35 leading manufacturers and distributors are already committed, marking a pivotal shift from development to adoption. The reason is clear. Companies have invested heavily in product data systems, but the lack of a common framework continues to create inefficiencies, errors, and costly delays. The PDS provides a solution—a uniform format that ensures accurate, consistent product information flows seamlessly between partners. The benefits are compelling: greater efficiency, improved accuracy, and stronger digital readiness. But these gains will only be realized if adoption is widespread. To guide this process, ASA has established a Product Data Governance Committee. The committee oversees change requests, version updates, and long-term stewardship of the standard. This ensures the PDS remains a living standard that evolves with industry needs. How to Adopt the Standard Today Distributors: Ask your manufacturers to provide PDS-compliant product data. Manufacturers: Begin sharing product information in the new standard format with your distribution partners. Everyone: Visit asa.net/Industry-Standards/Product-Data-Standard to review the template and data dictionary. ASA will continue to provide tools, resources, and support for members as they transition. As more firms adopt the standard, the benefits will multiply—fewer errors, lower costs, and streamlined operations across the supply chain. The success of the PDS depends on collective action. The sooner the standard is adopted, the sooner the entire industry will benefit. For assistance, please contact pds@asa.net or visit www.asa.net/Industry-Standards/Product-Data-Standard. Print
