Plumbing Systems Codes and Standards Activities

The 2021-2022 Code Cycle is in process. Below is information on the model codes under revision and proposed changes under consideration that impact plumbing systems. As ASA positions are developed and the code-cycle progresses, new information will be added.

IAPMO 2021-2022 Code Development Cycle Schedule

IAPMO Code Hearings Completed. The first round of meetings on proposed changes to the Uniform Plumbing Code and Uniform Mechanical Code have been completed. Below are links to ASA reports on the results of the hearings related to plumbing systems:

ASME A-112 Product Standards

The American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) A112 Committee is responsible for the development and maintenance of product standards covering all types of plumbing fixtures including: water closets, faucets, drainage systems, and air-gap devices.

ASSE Product Standards

The American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE) Product Standards Committee is responsible for the development and maintenance of product standards focusing in the areas of backflow prevention, and water temperature control.
