ASA’s YEs to Send Seven Wounded Warriors to Operation Rise & Conquer

The American Supply Association’s Young Executives Division committed, during their Executive Council meeting, to become the association’s designated group to drive Operation Rise & Conquer, a charitable effort that sends wounded soldiers to extreme outdoor events in Colorado to help them regain their outlook on the future.  At the YE Spring Forum that took place this week in Milwaukee, within six hours of making the announcement of taking on this initiative and taking up a challenge to raise $3,000 to send one soldier to Adaptive Sports, the YEs had raised nearly $22,000 and now are sending 7 soldiers on this week long extreme adventure.

"We were enthusiastic about our efforts to raise enough money to send a wounded hero to participate in an extreme sporting event."  Said Jeff Worly, Chairman of the Young Executives Division.  "We were overwhelmed when one company after another jumped up and matched our fundraising with an additional sponsorship."

Several partners within the plumbing industry have recently teamed together to introduce a unique, meaningful program to benefit wounded American active duty soldiers and veterans.
The program, guided by Adaptive Sports who provides veterans with special equipment needed to participate in summer or winter activities, is a resourceful and motivating way to help these brave heroes take a break from their hospital rehabilitation environments.  Participants are exposed to horseback riding, biking, rock climbing, fishing, whitewater rafting, skiing, ice climbing and many other challenging, yet rewarding activities.

“The goal of Operation Rise & Conquer is to empower and inspire these wounded soldiers and veterans to regain confidence and trust in themselves and others,” according to Michael Werner, President and CEO of Danze, Inc. and Gerber Plumbing Fixtures.  “It’s a powerful way for us to provide a healing opportunity for these men and women who sacrificed so much for us.”

Werner is encouraging others in the plumbing industry to participate in Operation Rise & Conquer.  The initial group of partners has set the goal of sending 50-70 veterans through the program each year.  Sponsoring one veteran is $3,000, which includes all air and ground transportation, housing, meals, activities, programs and equipment.
