An elected, volunteer Board of Directors develops policies and sets the direction of the organization. The Board works closely with all ASA volunteers and staff to see these policies executed and to provide overall program management.

Representatives are elected from each of the regional affiliates, ASA's National Member Division, Vendor Member Division, Special Interest Divisions, and the Association of Independent Manfacturers' Representatives (AIM/R).
